The Use of Immersive Tech in Healthcare

Health Access for Refugees: Immersive Health

Last week, CardioCrown had the opportunity to attend the Health Access for Refugees: Immersive Health event, where we were inspired by innovative applications of immersive technologies in healthcare. One standout project was HARP, developed by students, which leverages immersive tech to assist refugees in adapting to life in the UK.

Following the presentation of HARP, our COO, Heraldas Gaspariunas, participated in a panel discussion with other innovators to explore the adoption of immersive technologies in healthcare. The conversation revolved around the current impact of virtual reality (VR) technologies on healthcare and their future potential to create value for both UK and international healthcare systems.

Key Highlights from the Panel Discussion

How Immersive Technologies are Useful in Healthcare:

  1. Training and Education: Immersive technologies provide realistic, repetitive training experiences that enhance the learning process for healthcare professionals.
  2. Rehabilitation: Engaging therapy sessions powered by immersive tech can motivate patients and improve outcomes.
  3. Treatment and Therapy: VR can be a powerful tool for mental health support, offering therapeutic experiences in a controlled and safe environment.

Adoption Challenges:

  1. User Acceptance and Training: Building trust through evidence-based practices is essential for encouraging the use of these technologies among healthcare providers and patients.
  2. Infrastructure and Accessibility: Making immersive technology available to those who need it is crucial for its success in the healthcare sector.
  3. Challenges of NHS Adoption: Collaborating with healthcare trusts is key to overcoming barriers to implementation within the NHS.

At CardioCrown, we are committed to investing in immersive technologies to alleviate the strain on therapists and empower them with the tools they need to provide the best possible care in neurorehabilitation.

We would like to extend our gratitude to Coventry UniversityCoventry City CouncilUniversity Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire, and Bianca Wright, PhD, for the opportunity to participate in the keynote talk and showcase our technology to healthcare professionals. Together, we can continue to drive innovation and improve patient care through immersive technologies.
